Jon Gordon has long been known as a New York City area session guitarist.
His involvement with major label bands began in the late 70's as a charter
member of Arista Records' power-pop band "Tycoon". Tycoon's eponymous first
record, produced by Mutt Lange, scored a top twenty hit with "Such a Woman"
featuring Jon on slide guitar.
He subsequently worked with both Madonna and Suzanne Vega as guitarist,
musical director and arranger. Jon is featured as a soloist on three of
Miss Vega's US singles, including the Billboard #3 hit, triple Grammy nominee
"Luka" on which he shares arranging credit. He has also toured with Mary
Travers and singer/comedienne Christine Lavin.
Since 1987, Jon has focused on his work as a producer, composer, arranger,
multi-instrumentalist and engineer at his own studio facility, Jon Gordon
Music Production. Being based in his own facility allows Jon to work fluidly
with a variety of instruments, including electric and acoustic guitars,
12 string, bass, baritone, dobro, lap steel and mandolin. He is also a
capable MIDI programmer, and has worked with computer-based music and audio
systems for nearly two decades. He has been engineering and mastering on a
Pro Tools system since the Mix Plus systems were introduced in late 1998.
All in all, Jon offers a mature and comprehensive suite of skills and services.
Jon composes original music and provides music production and technical
services, primarily for the advertising, broadcast, industrial, publishing
and indy artist fields. Studio clients include: Avon Corp, Fox Network,
The American Heart Association, Weight Watchers, Simon & Schuster Audio,
